The Woodland Trust

he Woodland Trust is a charity dedicated to the preservation and creation of woodlands. It owns many woodlands throughout the country, including some major ones in Scotland, although there is a concentration of Woodland Trust properties in the West Country. Most of the woodlands are open to the public, although the smaller ones are rarely signed or waymarked.

Many of its properties are very small, often less than five acres. It also owns some extensive and important woodlands. Naturenet entries are restricted to those Woodland Trust properties larger than about 20 acres, or particularly significant.

There is now an excellent Woodland Trust website, well worth a visit. All Woodland Trust properties are listed in a very easy to use database,and there is plenty of other information too including an impressive FAQ which really does answer frequently asked woodland questions.
