Plantlife

P

Plantlife lantlife is dedicated exclusively to saving wild plants and their habitats. Plantlife buys and manages flower-rich meadows to conserve plants such as cowslips, orchids, and hundreds more species.

Plantlife International acts directly to stop common wild plants becoming rare in the wild, to rescue wild plants on the brink of extinction, and to protect sites of exceptional botanical importance. The charity carries out practical conservation work, influences relevant policy and legislation, and collaborates to promote the cause of wild plant conservation. Plantlife International hosts the secretariat for Planta Europa, the network of organisations working for plant conservation across Europe.

Plantlife has several projects such as Back from the Brink and the Great Hedge, to bring their work to the attention of the public.

Plantlife owns and manages several sites in Britain. As at 2005 there are Plantlife International nature reserves at 22 sites around England, Scotland, Wales and the Isle of Man, covering a total of approximately 3,900 acres.
